Acropolis of Rhodes

     The Acropolis of Rhodes is considered as one of the finest samples of the Hellenic architecture that has blended beautifully with the existing environment. The Temple of Athena Polias and Zeus Polieus, Nymphaia, Odeon, the Temple of Pythian Apollo, the Stadium and the Gymnasium are just some of the monuments that have been discovered by the archeologists in this area.

     Nowadays, the remains of the Temple of Athena and Zeus are consisted of four huge columns with a Doric architecture. Because of its placement on the top of the mountain, it offers to the visitor, the chance of enjoying the breathtaking view of the western part of the island. Following, you can see the well preserved monument of the 600 feet length Stadium. It had been excavated by the Italians during their rule on the island.

     Because of its capacity and the acoustic, the Stadium often used for concerts during the summer. It is highly recommended to the visitors, to carrying a camera with them.
